Ride & Stride (meeting house open for visitors)

Mainly a fundraising event, the annual "Ride & Stride" is organised and run by Sussex Historic Churches Trust.  As part of this event, Lewes Quaker meeting house will be open to visitors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Whether you are an official "rider & strider" or not, feel free to make a visit to the meeting house, either to view the interior of our historic building or to find out more about Quakers and the Quaker way.

Ecumenical Thinktank: “Only Listen”

One in a series of ecumenical events held in the evenings between 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. at Christ Church, Lewes.  All are welcome to this free event.  In tonight's talk, Lyn Smith is the featured speaker.  She has taught International Relations at several universities and has extensive experience as an oral historian. Since 1979 she has worked at the Imperial War Museum, currently advising on the 'People Power: Fighting for Peace' exhibition.

A Taste of Quaker Silence

Lewes Quaker Meeting will host “A Taste of Quaker Silence” on 30 September.  Participants are invited to arrive from 9.45 for a 10 a.m. start.  Brief descriptions of what happens are followed by short periods of silence, introducing such terms as "hearts and minds prepared", “centring down” and “gathered meeting”.  The meeting will end around 11 a.m. after which there will be time to ask questions and offer comments, over a cup of tea or coffee.
